Royal Wedding Celebrations at London Hilton on Park Lane
London Hilton on Park Lane is rolling out the red carpet for this year’s much anticipated Royal Wedding of Prince William to Kate Middleton. In the heart of Mayfair, London Hilton on Park Lane is close to all that London has to offer, from musicals and theatres to world-famous landmarks, such as Hyde Park and Trafalgar Square. Located on the prestigious Park Lane, the hotel is only a stone’s throw away from Buckingham Palace, making it an ideal location to celebrate the day as the wedding unfolds.
To commemorate the upcoming Royal Wedding, Podium Restaurant at London Hilton on Park Lane has created a limited edition ‘Sapphire Afternoon Tea’. Created by executive chef Anthony Marshall, this special tea takes inspiration from the sapphire engagement ring presented to Kate Middleton by Prince William, including references to the cool colour of this precious stone in ingredients and decorations throughout.
This delicious variation of the hotel’s celebrated afternoon tea includes fresh open sandwiches, chocolate chip scones, white chocolate cupcakes with ‘bouquet’ icing, a shortbread ‘wedding cake’ with gold leaf and a cheesecake & coconut parcel. As a proud member of The Tea Guild, Podium’s afternoon tea is recognised as offering a high standard of tea service. The ‘Sapphire Afternoon Tea’ is available from 26 April to 1 May 2011, from 2 to 6 pm daily.
Boasting sweeping views across London’s spectacular skyline, with Buckingham Palace prominently in sight, Michelin-starred Galvin at Windows Restaurant and Bar on the 28thfloor of London Hilton is another ideal venue to celebrate the festivities and toast to the Royal couple with a specially created ‘Royal Wedding Lunch’ menu. Exquisitely designed by André Garrett, head chef, Galvin at Windows, the menu features divine ingredients such as fresh dorset crab, kohlrabi, espelette & honeycomb and poached fillet of wild turbot, oyster, cucumber & wasabi. The menu is available from the 26 April to 29 April, book early to avoid disappointment!
For a touch of glamour, London Hilton on Park Lane is also offering guests a ‘Sweet Royal Affair’ break package stay for the duration of the Royal Wedding celebrations. This unique package includes a three-night-stay in a newly refurbished Deluxe room with views of Hyde Park and a sumptuous champagne breakfast each morning, plus one sitting of the limited edition ‘Sapphire Afternoon Tea’. The ‘Sweet Royal Affair’ package is available for a three night stay, from 27 April.
For a sensational culinary experience, London Hilton’s ‘Divine Royal Affair’ Royal wedding package offers guests a three-night-stay in a newly refurbished Deluxe room, with a champagne breakfast each morning, and (on one evening) a special meal at Michelin-starred restaurant Galvin at Windows on the 28th floor. The ‘Divine Royal Affair’ package is available for a three night stay, from 27 April.

(Not flaming) Rhum Baba!
I know I talk a lot about beef, whether it be steak, burgers or errrr anything else you can make with beef? Help me out here? Stew! Yes! Thank you at the back. You can tell I’m a real foodie can’t you? Anyway, it’s well known that I love a nice bit of beef. It is less well known that I also have a bit of a sweet tooth – I love desserts.
Today, I had the pleasure of combining my two loves (that’s beef and dessert in case the first paragraph isn’t clear) in the fabulous michelin-starred restaurant in the London Hilton on Park Lane: Galvin at Windows. The restaurant is on the 28th floor of the hotel and has amazing 360 degree views of London to go with the fantastic food.
I was there with legendary blogger extraordinaire (and former cabin boy) Martypants and Stephanie and Kelly from the hotel. During the starter (scallops:divine) Martin (apparently) noticed another table having their desserts (and I quote) “set on fire”. Well, that’s the dessert for me I thought. So after an amazing fillet of beef with foie gras – I’m drooling just thinking back to it – I opted for “Rhum Baba” which was apparently the dessert in question. Martin opted for the same and we all eagerly awaited the flames.
The waiter duly arrived with a tray full of desserts and began the procedure of creating 2 Rhum Babas. The problem was there wasn’t a blowtorch or even a box of matches in sight. Still, I readied myself with the camera as we waited for the inevitable flaming dessert………..
Then nothing. The waiter poured some rum into the bowl and that was it. No flames. My smile disappeared and turned into immense disappointment. Kelly noticed this and seemed to revel in it – she laughed so much she was in tears. Enought tears to douse the non-existent flames. Martin insisted he hadn’t mentioned anything about a “flaming dessert” but the rest of us heard him – he’s a liar.
If you take just one thing from this post, let it be that Martin is a liar and is not to be trusted. If you take 2, let the second be to go and book yourself a table at Galvin at Windows – you won’t be disappointed (unless you want flames).

a true london icon
no not me! although I am pretty famous round these parts it must be said!
As you know team london are constantly milling around town seeing our all lovely London hotel partners, and we’ve come to notice there’s always one hotel that particular stands out (visually speaking of course).
Literally you can see this hotel from so many vantage points in London, this pic on the left is a taken just below Oxford Street, and on the right in Green Park….
This is of course the Hilton on Park Lane (for that is its correct title!) it’s almost like the hotel follows you around London (or is that just me?!).
The irony is that once inside the Hilton on Park Lane, if you whizz on up to floor 27 you of course arrive at Galvin at Windows, not only a phenomenally amazing fine dining restaurant but it has the most amazing panoramic views of the wholllle of London, it’s truly breathtaking and literally when eating you can’t help but let your eyes wander over the amazing views.
One of the views is directly over Buckingham Palace’s back garden, the Queen was reportedly so not amused of the hotel being constructed (back in 1963) that she has pointedly refused to ever attend any function there! The Queen clearly has not met my sales/revenue contacts at the hotel, they’re the greatest most fabbest of ladies (can I come for lunch again hint hint!!).
